Whoops. Wrong picture...No that Apple piece was not rendered, it was shot with a tungsten light on a white table cloth on a podium. It's a wooden apple as well.

You can see the texture of the table cloth in the shadow.

Thanks for the comment. The photograph was not rendered, the main thing for the color was pushing up the Blue and Red channels a little. The shot was shot in a studio with a softbox set at f16, and a background slave at f32 on a Fuji S1 at f8 and 1/100th on 400ISO.
